2022 Norm Baily Awards and MedPhys SLAM
The Southern California Chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM-SCC) wishes to announce two student / resident competitions for 2022: our annual Norm Baily Awards and the MedPhys SLAM Event. The event will be held LIVE at the Aresty Conference Center at the University of Southern California (1450 Biggy Street, Los Angeles, CA) on Tuesday May 24, 2022 at 7:00pm.
The 2022 Norm Baily Award has two award categories: a graduate and a post-doc/resident category. Any graduate student in a medical physics program in the Southern California Chapter is eligible for the Graduate Student Award, and any medical physics resident of medical physics post-doctoral fellow is eligible for the Resdient/Post-doctoral Award.
To participate, please send a 300-word abstract of your own work with optional 2 pages of supporting documents (up to 750kB) no later than midnight on Sunday, May 15, 2022. All submissions should be emailed to Steve Goetsch at: Steven@sdradiotherapy.com
Award Certificates and cash prizes will be awarded to the First and Second place winners in each category. The award winners will be notified prior to the Norm Baily Awards Ceremony, or no later than Friday May 20th 2022.
Additionally, all students/residents/post-docs are invited to participate in the MedPhys SLAM Event! This is a research communication competition that will be judged LIVE May 24th, the same night as the Norm Baily Awards. Presenters have 3 minutes to give the what, how, and why of their research and convince a panel of judges that their work is impactful and important. To participate in the MedPhys SLAM event, just affirm your interest with your Norm Baily submission. A single winner will be chosen and will represent our chapter at the National MedPhys SLAM Competition to be held at the 2022 AAPM Meeting, and will receive a travel grant of $1000.
The 2022 Norm Baily Awards and MedPhys SLAM even will be held LIVE on May 24th, 2022 at 7:00pm. There are plans to live-stream the event as well; non-competitors are welcome to view online. Registration details will be provided soon and the meeting link will be provided to all registrants/participants.
Those interested in attending, please

We encourage all students, postdocs and residents in Southern California to participate in this competition!
